Executive Summary

The County of Los Angeles has been a consistent supporter of the development of conversion technologies. Development of in-County, commercial scale conversion technology facilities is a key element in the County’s strategy for assuring long-term disposal capacity to meet the needs of over 10 million residents and thousands of businesses county-wide.

The Southern California conversion technology project, spearheaded by the County of Los Angeles, promotes the development of fully operational conversion technology facilities. The goal of the project is to develop one or more projects within the County to demonstrate the technical, environmental and economic benefits of conversion technologies, and to forge permitting and legislative pathways for future commercial projects.
