Nordic winds up
by Becky Brun - 9.1.07

Nordic Windpower, which manufactures the industry’s only two-blade wind generators, is setting up shop in the United States. Steve Tabor, CEO of the new Bay Area wind power startup, is assembling a team of wind energy veterans to lead its North American operations. The company says it will announce the site of its first North American manufacturing plant by October 2007.

Developed with a $75 million investment from the European Union government, the Nordic Windpower N1000 turbine is installed throughout Sweden. Nordic, which was funded by its founders, recently agreed to investment terms with a major international investment bank, according to Tabor.

Jim Walker, president-elect of the North American Wind Energy Association, co-founded Nordic Windpower and is a member of Nordic’s board of directors.
