Technology, ecology – and the freedom of generosity

Paul Hawken keynotes the Nov. 1 Sustainable Industries Economic Forum

Guests of the Nov. 1 Sustainable Industries Economic Forum in San Francisco were treated to an insightful and inspirational keynote presentation by Paul Hawken on the intersection of ecological business and technology. More than 300 guests, including business leaders from dozens of innovative Bay Area companies, were in attendance. A special thanks to presenting sponsor Salesforce.com and supporting sponsor HP for making the event happen.

Also, check out this snippet from Hawken's post-event interview.

The 2012 forum was held on the eve of Sustainable Industries' 10-year anniversary.

The Sustainable Industries Economic Forums are annual, highly regarded business events held in San Francisco, Seattle, Portland, Denver, Santa Monica, and other cities. For a decade the forum has featured inspiring keynotes, engaging Q&A and quality networking, including speakers Arianna Huffington, Ray Anderson, Van Jones, Cameron Sinclair, Alex Bogusky, Karl-Henrik Robert, governors, mayors, leading economists, and dozens of Sustainable Industries' most innovative CEOs. The event's mission is to re-inspire the inspired, connect sustainability thought leaders, and help get business done. There is no business event like it.

Once again Mr. Hawken eloquently completes those partial sentences in my mind...I've been mulling over Peter Diamandis' concept of Abundance...hmmm, we need more than that.. especially if he is dead wrong and we are in (real or perceived) scarcity prior to the abundance era.....AH HA! GENEROSITY is what frees the abundance so we can reach sustainability. Abundance on its own is a stack of money neatly stacked in a lock box. Sustainability = Abundance + Generosity
