A photo essay of the 2011 Greenbuild Conference and Expo in Toronto.
Toronto, Ontario

The Greenbuild 2011 International Conference and Expo ended on a warm, sunny afternoon in Toronto Friday with a closing plenary featuring New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and the Bay Area's John Picard, principal of Picard & Associates.

Those flying home for the weekend met with long lines and one to four hour delays at Toronto Pearson International Airport as union security screeners orchestrated a maddening "work-to-rule" protest against Garda World Security Corp., and by extension, thousands of innocent travelers at Canada's largest airport.

Following is a photo essay tracing some of the highlights of the event. Simply click to the next page to see additional photos.

A high-profile reception hosted by SCIenergy at the recently completed and groundbreaking 18 York building included several ice scupltures, one of which was the long open bar. The event doubled as a launch party for Enlighted, a Sunnyvale, Calif.-based lighting sensor company that recently closed $14 million in funding.

It must have been very cold there....with all those ice sculptures. The bar ice sculpture is really cool!

That ice bar is amazing! The bartender must be feeling very cold.

I wouldn't want to go near that bar...I am feeling cold already. :)

I was stuck in that Pearson "work to rule" protest.....absolutely unfair on the ordinary traveler is right!
